Why Updates Matter So Much
Third-party software depends on details of the game that can change in any patch. Even a small update can shift memory layouts or rendering behavior, and software built for the previous version may stop working or behave incorrectly until it is revised.
That is not a flaw so much as a fact of how these tools work. It also means a status check is not optional on a day when a patch has landed. A thirty-second look can save an hour of confusion.
How to Read the Status Label

Reading Patch Notes Properly
Valve's notes list map changes, gameplay tweaks, and fixes. Skim them for anything that touches rendering, networking, or the user interface, since those areas tend to cause compatibility changes. Map rotations and callout changes are worth reading too, because they affect how you play.
Keep a short habit: note the date, the build, and anything that looks relevant. If something breaks later, that note helps support narrow things down.

Patch days are the worst time to queue into rule-enforced services with experimental software. Anti-cheat and moderation systems are often updated alongside the game, and mismatches create unnecessary risk.
